The relative risks of saccharin and sucrose ingestions | Relative risks of saccharin and sucrose ingestions. [letter]
1979
Walker, Alexander R.P.
A letter to the editor questions the validity of reports that link sucrose ingestion with obesity and obesity with life expectation. It has not yet been proven that saccharin use significantly averts the ingestion of calories, nor that high compared with low consumers of sucrose are more prone to obesity. In adults, mild and moderate obesity have very little bearing on life expectation. The precise relevance to health in a community of the availability of saccharin waits definition.
