Vitamin supplementation for breastfed infants
1979
Normal infants nursed by healthy mothers may develop nutritional deficiencies; nutrient supplementation is recommended as follows: a single injection of Vitamin K following birth and daily supplements of 400 I.U. of Vitamin D, 7 mg of iron, and 0.25 mg of fluoride. Additional supplements may be necessary depending on nutritional status of the mother, health of the infant, and its gestational age.
