A 3-point linkage dynamometer for draft measurement of mounted type implements has been designed and developed. The dynamometer system mainly consists of four parts including the arms with extension for left and right, load sensing unit, the inverted T frame and a head bar. Three load cells were installed in the three sensing bodies such that the draft forces in each link in addition to any bending forces on the lower links are measured. The dynamometer was calibrated and several field tests were conducted to measure the force required to pull an implement. To compare and assess the degree of accuracy of the draft measurement system by the designed dynamometer, a system involving strain gauges in all the three links was also designed and forces in the links were measured simultaneously. A maximum of ± 8 kg draft variation was observed between the developed dynamometer values and the strain gauge type dynamometer under actual field conditions.
