In this paper, a novel supramolecular fluorescent probe RBGP was designed and prepared based on rhodamine B, which has a unique response to Al³⁺. The validity of the compound was verified by means of NMR and MS and its spectral properties were investigated. The probe responds very quickly to Al³⁺, and the color of the probe solution changed immediately upon encountering aluminum ions. The detection limit could be as low as 0.146 μM and the higher binding constant 1.01 × 10⁴ M⁻¹ for Al³⁺. Its functions were explored from a practical point of view, the probe can play a role in complex real water samples and maintain a high recovery rate. We had also made relevant applications in the field of biology, where the probe RBGP had been successfully applied in living cells, plant cells and living bodies.
