Effect of dietary supplementation on lactation performance of undernourished Burmese mothers
1987
Khin-Maung-Naing. | Tin-Tin-OO.
A 2-week study assessed whether a dietary supplement (a dish of curry containing animal protein cooked in oil, taken twice daily at mealtimes with the home diet) would improve the lactation of 12 undernourished mothers relative to a control group of 9 undernourished mothers. The results indicated that the supplemented mothers had higher milk outputs, and their infants had greater human milk intakes with a significant increase in skinfolds. The study data are statistically summarized and discussed.
