The Billing system for fire blight risk assessment was applied in the present study to explain the epidemic nature of the severe out-breaks of pear fire blight that took place in Egypt during the period of 1982-1986. Results have indicated great risk for blossom infection since high consecutive number of theoretical development periods were estimated to occur during blooming of pear trees. It was thus essential to apply several sprays (10-12 sprays) at short interval (4 days) with 100 p.p.m. streptomycin to obtain a successful control for fire blight in pear orchards of Alexandria and Behera Governorates as it has been successfully practiced in 1986, 1987 & 1989 seasons.
