By photooxidation of acetoneazine the unstable tetramethyl-1,2-dioxa-4,5-diazine and the trimeric acetoneperoxide are obtained. The dioxadiazine cleaves into acetone and nitrogen with a half live of ~ 20 min at 40°C (in CH₂Cl₂) and induces luminescence in added fluorescent dyes.
