Feeding and necrotizing enterocolitis
1980
Goldman, Herbert I.
Epidemiological investigation of the relationship between feeding practices and necrotizing enterocolitis shows that overfeeding has a high correlation to the number of cases of neonates with necrotizing enterocolitis. The study determined the incidence of the problem from 1964 to 1976, the feeding practices during this time period, and the feeding practices in the group of infants with necrotizing enterocolitis. With rare exception necrotizing enterocolitis occurs after oral feedings have been given.
