A new diplogastrid nematode, Pseudacrostichus musai gen. n., sp. n. isolated from decaying banana rhizome collected from Haldwani, Uttrakhand, India is described and illustrated. The new genus is characterized by a thick cuticle with strong longitudinal ridges and prominent transverse striations; transverse striations more prominent, annule-like in the stomal region; amphidelphic female gonad with posterior branch shorter; strongly set off and irregularly-shaped spermatheca; slightly arcuate, cephaJated spicules with proximal half broader than the distal half; a large, sickle-shaped gubernaculum with a thread-like proximal extension and nine pairs of genital papillae, GP vl and v2 grouped together. On the phylogenetic tree of Diplogastridae the best place for Pseudacrostichus gen. n. would be between the genera Acrostichus and Diplogastrellus.
