Seven elements of an effective safety program

Effective management action is the key to reducing on-the-job injuries. The quality and quantity of management's efforts are decisive in motivating employees, to their personal responsibility for preventing accidents. Seven essential elements of an effective safety program are outlind: (1) management leadership; (2) assignment of responsibility; (3) accident reporting system and evaluation; (4) safety education program; (5) maintenance of safe working conditions; (6) medical care and first aid; and, (7) acceptance of personal responsibility by all employees.
