The present study was mainly aimed at assessing and comparing the bacterial load of milk under Individual Milking System (IMS) and Community Milking System (CMS). Three Individual Milking Cooperative Societies (IMCS) and three Community Milking Cooperative Societies (CMCS) each from Bangarpet and Kolar taluks of Kolar district were randomly selected. Ten samples from each IMCS and CMCS were randomly collected. The findings of the study indicated that average bacteria count was significantly higher (P<0.0001) in milk from IMS than the CMS, indicating the reduction in the bacterial load under CMS. As the results of Community Milking System can be adopted in all Milk Producers'Cooperative Societies (MPCS).
