Statistical analysis of the results of a cross-sectional anthropometric, dietary, and blood pressure survey involving 323 white elementary school children found height, weight, body mass index (BMI), and skinfold thickness to be significantly associated with systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Daily dietary calories, cholesterol, and sodium intakes also were related to blood pressure. Multiregression analysis found body weight, BMI, and caloric intake to account for most of the variability in blood pressure in the study subjects.
