Aspects concerning the safety of food additives, regarding behavioral impairment in children, are numerous. The approximately 3000 approved food additives, safety testing requirements, and current pertinent evidence concerning the Feingold hypothesis are all currently being analyzed. Scientific studies of the Feingold hypothesis indicate that adverse behavior in younger children may be caused by food additives, emphasizing the need to include behavioral testing in evaluations of the safety of food additives.
