The 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act bans discrimination against the disabled by private-sector employers. This article outlines some of the implications of this law and describes how companies have already successfully hired handicapped persons. Job skills and sensitivity training, special equipment to provide "reasonable accommodations" for handicapped employees and the benefits of new technologies and recruiting are among the subjects discussed.
