Extract: The purpose of this study is to assemble information on patterns of fertilizer usage by crop and area in California which, when combined with demand factors, will facilitate the assessment of future fertilizer requirements for alternative commodity demand projections. the specific objectives are to: 1. estimate the aggregate demand for fertilizer in California in a form which will facilitate projection of future changes in usage. 2. determine current rates of fertilizer applications by region in California for major field, vegetable, and tree crops and to estimate the proportion of each crop by region which is fertilized. 3. project California's fertilizer requirements to 1985 given aggregate commodity production levels based on existing projections of food demand.
