Constraints Analysis of Indigenous Cropping and Ethno Veterinary Practices in Arunachal Pradesh

The tribal population of Arunachal Pradesh is largely dependent on agriculture and animal husbandry as a main source of their livelihood and these tribal farmers are known to have rich knowledge of indigenous technology pertaining to agriculture, pest management, crop biodiversity conservation and ethno veterinary practices. While adopting and using these traditional practices the tribal farmers encounter constraints which are found out and discussed in the following study. The data was collected on the basis of detailed schedule prepared and the constraints were found out and analyzed based on the statistical tool Garrett's ranking technique. Study revealed that major constraints faced by farmers are local varieties which are disease and pest resistant are vanishing in the study area. And in ethno-veterinary practices lack of sufficient number of required plants for treatment and their unavailability, especially in summer were the major constraints faced by the tribal farmers.
