Design, efficiency, versatility and variety are all important factors which make new equipment better proponents of energy conservation than used equipment. A malfunctioning piece of equipment will significantly increase energy consumption. New equipment, designed to operate more efficiently, requires lower levels of energy consumption. More and more new equipment pieces have built in energy saving features, such as automatic heat level cutoffs, alternative heating, cooling and temperature maintenance systems, or single piece multipurpose construction.
