What slimmers want to know

Roughly 25% of the population of the U.K. is on a slimming diet at any one time. One of the more common reasons is "spot reducing," or losing weight from a specific area of the body. Other reasons include the risk of coronary heart disease in men and the wish to remain young looking or to wear fashionable clothes in women. Will power is the major factor in losing weight. For the severely overweight, especially those in whom the appetite/satiety mechanism is faulty, weight control is a lifetime process. Crash diets and other fad diets are ineffective in the long run. A balanced diet, consisting of fewer calories than the body needs, is the only successful, longterm way to lose weight.
