The mechanical properties measurement of Poly(L-lactide) (PLLA) films modified by adding just several percents of acrylic rubber (ACR) nanoparticles showed that the elongation at break and tensile strength increased obviously by comparing with neat PLLA film. The crystallization behavior of modified PLLA blend films was characterized by Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and Wide-angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD); it was found that the crystallization degree of PLLA was improved with small amount of ACR nanoparticles. The results indicate that ACR nanoparticles not only take the role of the toughening agents for PLLA films, but also increase the crystallization degree of PLLA as nucleation agents, which contribute to the enhancement of the tensile strength and modulus of PLLA films.
