Bimolecular rate constants for organophosphorus inhibitors of fly head cholinesterase
1962
KRYSAN, J.L. | CHADWICK, L.E.
The bimolecuiar rate constant for the reaction of SD 3562 (α-isomer of 3-(dimethoxyphos-phinyloxy)-N,N-dirnethylcrotonamide) with fly head Cholinesterase (ChE) was determined as 2.024 × 10⁴ liters mole⁻¹min.⁻¹; and for TEPP (tetraethylpyrophosphate) as 1.022 × 10⁸ liters mole⁻¹min.⁻¹. Bimolecuiar rate constants for 11 other organophosphorus inhibitors of fly head ChE are cited from the literature. When similar indices are available for a greater variety of inhibitors, it should be possible to assess the relationship between chemical structure and inhibitory potency and to make useful deductions as to the configuration and properties of the enzyme.
