Interlaminar toughness of interleaved CFRP using non-woven veils: Part 2. Mode-II testing
2011
Kuwata, M. | Hogg, P.J.
The objective of this research is to investigate the interlaminar toughness of CFRP by non-woven interleaf veils. Composites produced with polyester veil in the inter-ply region exhibited significant improvements in Mode-II interlaminar toughness. In contrast, carbon veil interleaved laminates had the poorest Mode-II interlaminar toughness. The mechanism of toughening under Mode-II loading would appear to be more complex, less dependent on fibre-bridging and more affected by the properties of the matrix.
