In regard to the increasing requirement to intensify the selection of winter wheat for resistance to common bunt and dwarf smut, attempts have been made to identify genes of resistance in certain donors of this character. As a result of the study four new previously undescribed genes specifying resistance of wheat to the pathogens were identified. These genes may be used in selection for immunity.
