Genetics of fusariosis resistance in Triticosecale. In vitro investigations.
2004
Lupascu, G. | Fandeev, E.
The book presents the findings of the studies carried out to identify genetic peculiar features of the in vitro triticale anther and immature embryo morphogenezis on optimal nutrient media, as well as on the media containing Fusarium cultural filtrates and Fusarium toxin - fusaric acid. The specificity of callus and callus biomass formation on Fusarium metabolite containing media is shown in relation to the genotype, nutrient medium, abiotic environment, as well as the conditions in which donor plants are grown. The role of various genetic components, as well as gene actions and interactions in the formation of morphogenetic traits on Fusarium toxin containing media has been revealed. Modern statistical tecniques have been used to estimate the genetic distances between various triticale forms according to the reaction to Fusarium metabolites and the stability level of some morphogenetic traits at a combined action of biotic and abiotic stresses. In vitro breeding methods have been worked out for triticale regenerants which have demonstrated a resistance to Fusarium and leaf infections during several years and are characterized by good productivity indices.
