The use of recession curves analysis for the determination of active storage changes in the replenishing reservoir of the Kani Kedri spring system (in Iraq)

An analysis of three years recession for the Kani Kedri springs system located in the Sinjar mountain, north west Iraq, using the exponential equation for drainage basin depletion, has shown a low variability in the criteria of the flowing system during the observed period (1980-1982). A unique straight line was often found sufficient to represent the recession curve on a semilogarithmic scale. The gain in the active storage from year to year was determined, from which the annual recharging rate of the replenishing basin was then estimated
