Mohamed, A.A.H. | Mohamed, A.S.A. (Salahaddin Univ., Arbil Province (Iraq). Coll. of Agriculture)
Field experiment was carried out in the fields of college of Agriculture, University of Salahaddin, Arbil Province to study the effect of two sowing methods (broadcasting and mixed in the same row) on forage yield, botanical composition and quality of local black barley, narbon vetch and common vetch and their mixtures. The results show that sowing method of mixing the seeds in the same row gave highest fresh and dry forage yield and highest yield of crude protein particularly in the second season. The fresh yield of narbon vetch outyielded all the single crops and their mixtures. The mixtures of barley and narbon vetch and common vetch gave lowest percentage of legume. The second season gave higher fresh and dry-matter yield and legume percentage than the first season
