Chemical approach for managing root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita race 2, infecting jute [Corchorus capsularis L.; Corchorus olitorius L.; India]

Field experiments were conducted for three consecutive years with different nematicides, viz. carbofuran 3G at 2 kg a.i./ha, phorate 10G at 2 kg a.i./ha, sebuphos 10G at 2 kg a.i./ha, fenamiphos or benfuracarb 10G at 2 kg a.i./ha as soil applicants and carbosulfan 25ST at 3% w/w as seed treatment, for controlling root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita race 2, in jute. The only effective and economical approach was seed treatment with carbosulfan 25ST at 3% w/w. However, soil applications of carbofuran and fenamiphos at 2 kg a.i./ha were also found effective in increasing fibre yield of jute. Good results were also obtained when seeds of jute were treated with carbosulfan 25ST at 3% w/w, followed by soil application of fenamiphos 10G, phorate 10G or sebuphos 10G at 2 kg a.i./ha. A reduction of root galling was observed in plots treated with sebuphos at 2 kg a.i./ha

[Sono stati effettuati esperimenti in campo per tre anni consecutivi con diversi nematocidi, cioè carbofuran 3G a 2 kg p.a./ha, phorate 10G a 2 kg p.a./ha, sebuphos 10G a 2 kg p.a./ha, fenamiphos o benfuracarb 10G a 2 kg p.a./ha come trattamento al terreno e carbosulfan 25ST al 3% p/p come trattamento dei semi, per il controllo del nematode galligeno delle radici, Meloidogyne incognita razza 2, nella iuta. L´unica soluzione efficace ed economica è risultata il trattamento con carbosulfan 25 ST al 3% p/p. Tuttavia, i trattamenti del terreno con carbofuran e fenamiphos a 2 kg p.a./ha sono pure risultati efficaci nel determinare un aumento della resa in fibra della iuta. Sono stati pure ottenuti buoni risultati quando al trattamento dei semi con carbosulfan 25ST al 3% p/p seguiva il trattamento del terreno con fenamiphos 10G, phorate 10G o sebuphos 10G a 2 kg p.a./ha. E´ stata osservata una riduzione della formazione di galle nelle parcelle trattate con sebuphos a 2 kg/p.a./ha.]
