English. The recombinant form of the bovine somatotropin (rbST) is widely used to increase milk yield in lactating cows. Approved in US and in other Countries, rbST has been definitively banned in EU with the Decision 99/218 EC. Despite this ban, there are evidences of an illegal rbST use, but, actually, there are not analytical methods to demonstrate such kind of treatment. In this work, with the perspective to further set up an immunological test able to specifically recognise the recombinant form, we produced a monoclonal antibody with a significantly higher affinity against the rbST

Approvata negli USA e in altri Paesi, la rbST è stata vietata nell'UE con la Decisione 99/218 CE. Nonostante tale divieto, esistono evidenze di un uso illegale della rbST, ma, al momento, non sono disponibili metodi analitici in grado di rilevare tale tipo di trattamento. In questo lavoro, nella prospettiva di mettere a punto un test immunologico in grado di riconoscere specificamente la forma ricombinante, abbiamo prodotto un anticorpo monoclonale con un'affinità significativamente più elevata nei confronti della rbST.]
