Genotype and genotype x environment interaction effects on yield and yield components in castor (Ricinus communis L.) [Italy]

English. Twentythree castor genotypes, which included commercial hybrids, experimental hybrids and lines, were grown in replicated trials in Osimo during four years of testing. Two replications of each trial were irrigated at full restitution of maximum evapotranspiration (ETm), and two were grown in rainfed condition. There were significant differences among cultivars for yield, 1000-seed weight, number of racemes/plant, plant height and emergence-flowering duration. Genotype x environment interactions were always significant, indicating that each trait was very variable across environments. However, genotype variance for each trait was consistently higher than those for genotype x year or genotype x irrigation interaction. Castore, an experimental normal internode hybrid, showed the highest seed yield (2.25 t/ha) with insignificant differences from Hazera 22 and the three dwarf hybrids Riscio, ISCIOR 504 and Hale. These genotypes, except Riscio, showed 1000-seed weights higher than average. A low number of racemes per plant (1.3-1.6) was shown by Hazera 22, Castore and Hale. Italian. [Si sono coltivati, in prove ripetute effettuate a Osimo per quattro anni, ventitre' genotipi di ricino che includevano ibridi commerciali e ibridi e linee sperimentali. Due repliche di ciascuna prova sono state irrigate in piena restituzione dell'evapotraspirazione massima (ETm), e due sono state coltivate in condizioni di pioggia naturale. Sono state evidenziate differenze significative tra le cultivar quanto a resa, peso di 1000 semi, numero di racemi/pianta, altezza della pianta e durata del periodo emergenza-fioritura. Le interazioni genotipo x ambiente erano sempre significative e indicavano che ciascun carattere era molto variabile secondo l'ambiente. Comunque, la varianza del genotipo per ciascun carattere era costantemente piu' alta di quelle per le interazioni genotipo x anno o genotipo x irrigazione.
