English. Twenty-three species of fruit flies listed in a recent regulation concerning pests and diseases of quarantine interest for Italy were examined. Genera of economic importance such as Anastrepha, Bactrocera, Ceratitis, Dacus and Rhagoletis have been considered and keyed by using a simplified key published by White and Helson-Harris (1992). Chances of an eventual establishment in this Country are also discussed
