English. Biological and molecular analyses supported by symptom expression and restriction enzyme patterns of the coat protein PCR product were carried out to classify Tunisian CMV isolates. The coat protein region of many Tunisian CMV isolates was amplified using two specific primers in an RT-PCR protocol. Restriction enzyme analysis of this PCR product produced two distinct restriction patterns. Restriction fragment polymorphism agreed with the assignment of the studied isolates to two different biological groups
