Follicle and oocyte characteristics in buffaloes fed different diets

English. [Between 129 and 262 days in milk, 8 buffaloes underwent OPU twice weekly. Half of the subjects (group A) received a constant diet with 0.9 UFL/kg DM in the 6 trial periods, while the others (group B) were fed diets with different energy density (UFL/kg DM): B1 = 0.90, B2 = 0.79, B3 = 0.76, B4 = 0.90, B5 = 0.68 and B6 = 0.90. Variations or energetic deficit of the diet did not clearly affect the follicular dynamics and the oocyte production. It was found, however, that it is not easy to determine a negative energy balance in buffalo cows during this lactation stage. In particular, with a feed restriction of 8.6%, a clear improvement of the quantity and quality of the produced oocytes was observed]

Meta' di esse (gruppo A) ricevettero, nei 6 periodi di prova, una dieta con 0,9 UFL/kg di ss, mentre le altre (gruppo B) utilizzarono diete con differente densita' energetica (UFL/kg ss): Bl = 0,90, B2 = 0,79, B3 = 0,76, B4 = 0,90, B5 = 0,68 e B6 = 0,90. Non si sono evidenziate variazioni nell'andamento della produzione di follicoli ed oociti ascrivibili alle variazioni della dieta o ad un deficit energetico. Cio' puo' essere attribuito alla difficolta' di determinare un vero stato carenziale nella bufala a questo stadio di lattazione. In particolare, con una restrizione alimentare pari all'8,6%, si e' verificato un netto miglioramento della quantita' e della qualita' di oociti prodotti
