Growth and slaughter performances of Aosta Red Pied young bulls [Valle d'Aosta]

English. This research was carried out within a project intended to promote the production of meat by the autochthonous breeds of Aosta Valley. Therefore were studied the performances in vita and at slaughter of Aosta Red Pied young bulls, fed on two diets differing in the forage/concentrate ratio and energy concentration from 197 days of age until the slaughter (345 d). The CL group was fed both hay and concentrate ad libitum, while CR group was fed hay ad libitum and concentrate restricted at 75% of the CL intake. The CL group showed better conversion index (6.38 vs 7.72 kg DM/kg ADG), higher hot dressing percentage (56.2 vs 54.3%) and a tendency to more favourable daily gain (939 vs 809 g; P0.10). The performances of light young bulls, fed a diet with high energy concentration, seem to be rather good, if we consider that Aosta Red Pied is a small-sized, dairy-based breed, suitable for mountain areas
Show more [+] Less [-]Italian. [Questa ricerca e' stata condotta nell'ambito di un progetto inteso a promuovere la produzione di carne da parte delle razze autoctone della Valle d'Aosta. Sono state percio' studiate le prestazioni in vita e alla macellazione di vitelloni di Pezzata Rossa Valdostana, alimentati con due diete che differivano fra loro per il rapporto foraggio/concentrato e la concentrazione energetica da 197 giorni di eta' fino alla macellazione (345 g). Il gruppo CL era alimentato con fieno e concentrato ad libitum, mentre il gruppo CR era alimentato con fieno ad libitum e concentrato limitato al livello del 75% dell'ingestione del gruppo CL. Il gruppo CL ha evidenziato un miglior indice di conversione (6,38 vs 7,72 kg DM/kg di ADG), maggiore resa di macellazione a caldo (56,2 vs 54,3%) e una tendenza a un incremento giornaliero piu' favorevole (939 vs 809 g; P0,10). Le prestazioni dei vitelloni leggeri, alimentati con una dieta a concentrazione energetica elevata, sembrano piuttosto buone, se consideriamo che la Pezzata Rossa Valdostana e' una razza di taglia piccola, basata sulla produzione di latte, adatta per le aree montane]
