Virus diseases of vegetable crops in Southern Bulgaria

English. Virus diseases of vegetable crops (mainly tomato, cucumber, pepper and bean) were surveyed in 1999 in South-Eastern Bulgaria. The most widespread viruses were Tomato mosaic virus (ToMV), Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) and Pepper mild mottle virus 1.2 (PMMV 1.2) for pepper, ToMV, CMV and Tomato spotted wilt virus for tomato, CMV for cucumber, Bean common mosaic virus (BCMV) for bean. Using differential cultivars as well as ELISA and PCR, the viruses were classified into pathotypes, strains and subgroups. The CMV isolates were of subgroup I, Igamma and II. The BCMV isolates were identified as temperature-dependent necrotic strains. Bean common mosaic necrosis virus was found in only two samples. Clover yellow vein virus in bean and Cucumber leaf spot virus in cucumber are here reported for the first time in Bulgaria. A cucumovirus, different from CMV, was detected in bean. Two unidentified viruses (one with capillovirus-like particles from pepper and one with 30 nm spherical particles from cucumber) are currently under investigation

[Nel 1999, nella Bulgaria Sud-Orientale, sono state effettuate indagini sulle malattie virali delle colture ortive (principalmente pomodoro, cetriolo, peperone e fagiolo). I virus maggiormente diffusi sono risultati il Virus del mosaico del pomodoro (ToMV), il Virus del mosaico del cetriolo (CMV) e il Virus della screziatura leggera del peperone 1.2 (PMMV 1.2) per il peperone, il ToMV, il CMV e il Virus dell'avvizzimento a chiazze del pomodoro per il pomodoro, il Virus del mosaico comune del fagiolo (BCMV) per il fagiolo. Utilizzando cultivar differenziali, ELISA e PCR, i virus sono stati classificati in patotipi, ceppi e sottogruppi. Gli isolati del CMV appartenevano ai sottogruppi I, Igamma e II. Gli isolati del BCMV sono stati identificati come ceppi necrotici temperatura dipendenti. Il Virus della necrosi a mosaico comune del fagiolo e' stato ritrovato in solo due campioni. Il Virus delle venature gialle del trifoglio nel fagiolo e il Virus delle maculature fogliari del cetriolo nel cetriolo sono riportati per la prima volta in Bulgaria. Nel fagiolo e' stato riscontrato un cucumovirus diverso dal CMV. Sono attualmente oggetto di indagine due virus non identificati (uno con particelle simili a quelle dei capillovirus nel peperone e con particelle sferiche di 30 nm nel cetriolo)]
