The occurrence of sex chromosome chimerism (XX/XY) in a single-born heifer of Japanese shorthorn was investigated by chromosome analysis of a male calf out of 3 males which were born at the same time and in the same stall. Also, the status of the infection of Akabane virus were studied, because either male calf of other 2 males which died by the infection of Akabane virus may be a full-sib calf. The survived male calf did not show any sex chromosome chimerism, 60 XY only. And it was clearly shown that the case did not have antibodies for Akabane virus. From these findings, it seems that the case was a partner of heterosexual twins, and presumable male partner may have died and be absorbed in the uterus after choriovascular anastomosis
