Enzyme-linked immunoabsorbent assay (ELISA) for the detection of antibody in the serum of cattle infected with Theileria sergenti (T. sergenti) was carried out, and was compared with indirect fluorescent antibody technique (IFA). Antigen was prepared from intraerythrocytic piroplasmas in the early stage of experimental infection. Optical density (OD) value of positive serum was more than 0.074 using 160-times diluted serum in OD method of ELISA. End-point dilution of positive serum was more than 160-times by end-point dilution method of ELISA. In calves experimentally infected with T. sergenti, the antibody titer was detected by ELISA in the earlier stage of infection than by IFA. In conclusion, ELISA was considered to be useful method for the serodiagnosis of T. sergenti infection
