The aim of this study was to analyze the functions of nomadism as a part of the livestock industry, and to provide evidence from a scientific viewpoint that nomadism is still a practical method of livestock production and continues to plays a significant role in the livestock industry. This is the first study of the Aule method of nomadic livestock production, and is believed to be an important contribution to the study of nomadism as well as provide valuable information for policy considerations in the outlying regions of China
