Ecological studies of turfgrass diseases in golf courses and the screening of effective chemicals
1997
Katoh, S. (Aichi-ken. Agricultural Research Center, Nagakute (Japan))
Observation of the occurrence of turfgrass diseases, detection of their pathogens and application of chemicals were examined. The chief deceases (tentative name) were Haruhagei-sho, Leaf blight and Fairly rings in Zoysia green, Brown patch, Dollar spot and Phythium blight in bentgrass green, Large patch, Leaf blight and Fairy rings in Zoysia matrella and Zoisia japonica fairway. Several kinds of Phythium spp. were isolated from Haruhagei-sho lesions, and they had pathogenicity to Zoysia matrella. Curvularia spp, were isolated from Leaf blight lesions of Zoysia matrella, but in inoculation tests, no lesion reappeared. R. solani (AG-2-2 IV) and R. solani (AG-2-2 IIIB) were isolated from Large patch lesions of Zoysia matrella and bentgrass Brown patch lesions, respectively. Mepronil and flutolanil-resistant R. solani (AG-2-2 IIIB) isolates were found in bentgrass green. Several chemicals showed preventive effects, but no chemicals showed curative effects
