A new paddy rice cultivar, the Hitomebore was developed as follows : (1) Maturation term, 2 - 4 days faster. (2) Plant type, intermediate type with shorter and a greater number of panicles (3) Blast and lodging resistance were both weak. (4) Yeild was lower than the check variety. (5) Grain quality: same grade level or lower than the check variety (6) Culinary qualities: Appearance and the stickiness of the cooked rice were superior
