An adhesive pad of polyethylene foam coated with a water soluble adhesive was made in order to collect microorganisms on solid surfaces. Seventy percent of the microorganisms on an acrylic plate was collected by five dabbings with this adhesive pad. Microorganisms on the processing table surfaces were collected by this method. Microbial pollution of these processing tables and the effect of microorganism removal by swabbing were evaluated using the silkworm larvae plasma (SLP) reagent. The technique of using this adhesive pad and the SLP reagent could be applied to the rapid evaluation of microbial pollution on solid surfaces such as processing tables.
