Item and culture season of open field vegetables for which organic culture is possible in cool highlands

Investigatations were made on items and the culture season of open field vegetables using 15 items, in which organic culture is possible in cool highlands, and which were classified into 3 groups according to the number of marketable yield. 1. Folio wings are the item and the culture season of the open field vegetables for which organic fertilizer is applied and the marketable yield not less than 80% can be obtained compared with that of the traditional culture which uses synthetic fertilizer and pesticide even if the application of organic fertilizer is applied and control of insect pests, etc. is not performed. (1) Spinach (with rain-cover) can be harvested from May to December by seeding from April to October. (2) Lettuce can be harvested from April to October by seeding from December to August. (3) Carrot can be harvested from August to November by seeding from June to August. (4) Welsh onion can be harvested in November by seeding in April. (5) Potato can be harvested in July by planting in April. (6) Pumpkin can be harvested from August to September by seeding from April to June. (7) Broccoli can be harvested from June to September by seeding from April to July. (8) Chinese cabbage can be harvested in July and November by seeding in April and September. 2. Growth is obstructed or suppressed by the application of organic fertilizer, but items for which cultivation is possible considering the application season are onion and kidney bean. 3. The items which are apt to receive insect injuries, and in which the organic culture is difficult irrespective to the planting season are cabbage, komatsuna (Brassica campestris L.), Brassica rapa var. chinensis, small turnip, and a daikon (Japanese radish).
