In order to improve working efficiency of loading stalks for curing and increase the amount of stalks loaded in tobacco barn by Burley tobacco, we investigated the effect of the lateral-loading stalk-cut curing. The results obstained are as follows. 1) Accordingly, using this method, the labor of spearing stalks became useless and the labor of loading stalks became easy. Consequently, the working hours forloading stalksshowed about 20 percent decrement. 2) The amount of stalks loaded by this method was lager 20 percent decrement than that by the vertical-loading stalk-cut curing method. 3) Regarding to the leaves loaded on the upper row, yellowing and browning days by this method were shorter than those by the vertical-loading stalk-cut curing method. But, the days of curing was same together. 4) The appearance quality and smoking property by this method were same or a little better than those by the vertical -loading stalk-cut curing method.
