Distribution and habitat conditions of naturalized plant species Buddleja davidii and native close-species Buddleja japonica of the Mibu River water system in the Akaishi mountains [Japan]

Recently, the invasion and establishment of naturalized plant species Buddleja davidii has verified and came to a head on the Mibu River water system in the Akaishi Mountains. The distribution and habitat conditions of B. davidii and native close-species Buddleja japonica were studied in order to grasp invasion and established factors, and to consider the influences of the former on the latter in the nine branches of the Mibu River water system. The eighty-two study plots were set up at intervals of five hundreds meters in their branches. As a result, the invasion and establishment of B. davidii were confirmed almost all branches. The appearance percentage of B. davidii was 45.1% in all study plots. The competition relationship between B. davidii and B. japonica, because of that a positive correlation of distribution was accepted in both species. The habitats of both species were established in the widely opened riverbed. The niches of the grain size and pH value of B. davidii had something in common with that of B. japonica. A positive correlation of distribution was accepted between B. davidii and the sabo dam.
