The central government of China, in accordance with its Reform and Opening - up Policy, has resumed a restrictive trading system with neighboring countries (Remote region trading) to efficiently promote the development of regional economy. However, the disparity between the trade system's original purpose and the reality has widened along with the significant progress of deregulation. This paper examines the significance of the restrictive trading system in Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region with neighboring countries to the development of regional economy, and the changes in and issues related to the system, by analyzing the development process of the trade system.
