One of three Sepioteuthis lessoniana complex, namely, 'aoriika' (or 'shiroika' in Ryukyu Archipelago) usually spawn egg cases that contain four to six ova. We presently describe egg cases that contain smaller number of ova than 'aoriika' usually spawn. Each of these egg cases contained only three ova, and they were deposited in August in the coastal waters of Okinawa Island of the Ryukyu Archipelago, on the main spawning ground of 'aoriika'. An isozyme analysis confirmed that 'aoriika' had spawned these egg cases.
