New sweet pea cultivar 'Mimi'

A new sweet pea cultivar, 'Mimi', was derived from a cross between 'Stella' and 'Early Salmon Pink' in a greenhouse at the Floriculture Division, Miyazaki Agricultural Research Institute, Japan, in spring 1998. In the spring of 1999, the Fsub(1) was selfed to produce the Fsub(2) seeds. Pedigree selection was performed made from Fsub(2) to Fsub(10). In 2004, a fixed line was grown and was named 'Mimi'. The characteristics of 'Mimi' are as follows: 1. The plant type is tall. The pigmentation of petiole base is not present 2. The flower form is waved, and the flower diameter is relatively large. Flower color at the center of the standard and center of the wing is Strong Pink (JHS color chart No. 0104). Flower color at the center of the keel is pale reddish-yellow (JHS color chart No. 2202). The number of florets per inflorescence is 3.7. 3. The flowering habit is spring-flowering. When seeds are sown in early September, the first buds appear in late March. 4. A suitable period for the cold storage of seeds for forcing culture is 28 days.
