Distribution and persistence of Benomyl resistance in populations of Colletotrichum coffeanum in coffee
1991
Kingori, P.N. | Masaba, D.M.
Differences in proportions of Benomyl resistant strains in populations of Colletotrichum coffeanum from farms with different fungicide application programmes for control of coffee berry disease (CBD) were studied. Populations from farms where Benomyl has not been used were found to be highly sensitive while where it had been in application there was high resistance. The proportion of Benomyl sensitive strains was still very low thirteen years after withdrawal of the fungicide. This high persistence of resistance would explain why the use of Benomyl no longer results in improved disease control in farms with a history of application of the fungicide
