Density of fertilizer requirements of the compact and disease resistant Arabica coffee

The available information on nutritional and agronomic aspects of Arabica coffee in Kenya is based on the tall traditional cultivars which are susceptible to Coffee Berry Disease (CBD). A compact and CBD resistant Arabica coffee hybrid was developed and its F3 generation was called Catimor. A trial was set up using Catimor and 16 NPK fertilizer combinations and 6 tree densities to find the density and fertilizer requirements of the hybrid. Results are discussed with a conclusion that fertilizer requirements of the hybrid are not different from the traditional types but the optimal density is about 5128 trees/ha
