[Tongue necrosis by strangulation, a case report]
1992
Portilla, Eliseo
A case of necrosis of the free segment of the tongue in a three month old mongrel dog is reported. The dog was fed with bovine lungs and its tongue was strangled by a tracheal ring for 13 hours. Nevertheless, without the tongue, the dog was able to drink and eat normally. This leads to consider that losing the tongue in a three month old dog is still compatible with normal life. The risk of a tongue strangulation should also be considered when feeding dogs with bovine lungs
