Control measures to contain a tuberculosis breakdown in a deer herd
1990
O'Neil, B.
This paper discusses the series of events and actions that occurred in Tauranga county, New Zealand, as a result of tuberculosis in a deer herd. The trapping of infected possums led to the area being classified as an endemic Tb area. All cattle within the area and a fringe area were tested at 6 monthly intervals for Tb, and deer farmers were recommended to do the same. Possum control operations were initiated, farmer education was stepped up and feral goats were tested and found to be Tb free. The area currently does not have any tuberculosis animals in any deer or cattle herd
