Department of Public Works and Highways | (DPWH) / Department of Transportation and Communication | (DOTC) / Metro ManilaDevelopment Authority (MMDA)
The objective of the Metro Manila Urban Transport Integration Project is to address the deterioration of the urban transport in Manila, and improve integration, and management of the transport system, focusing on enhanced public transport uses, improved effectiveness, and adequate road accessibility. It is envisaged that during construction, noise, dust and air pollution will occur, as well as soil erosion, and water pollution. Although population, and socioeconomic issues are not expected to be adversely affected as a result of the project, traffic congestion will increase, and public health hazards are possible. Measures to mitigate adversity include: 1) dust pollution will be minimized through the use of ready mixed concrete, covers, and sprinkler systems; 2) noise abatement call for the installation of sound barriers, and limiting work schedules to regular business hours only; 3) temporary canals, and culverts will be built to prevent soil erosion, and waste water pollution from entering, or damaging the existing drainage system; 4) garbage, and septic tanks, and sanitation facilities, will ensure adequate sanitary conditions during construction; and, 5) installation of traffic safety signs, and enforced traffic regulations will ensure minimal traffic disturbances.
